Brought to you by the folks who brought you Bluehour, this semi-formal gem is no-nonsense, which is not to say it’s staid–in fact, unique takes abound here. Their chef, who was brought over from Saucebox, is making a splash with what used to be a solid, but tame menu. Sticking to great basic ingredients like flat-iron steak and steelhead while offering more creative gems like STROZZAPRETTI “CARBONARA” made of slow-poached egg, bacon, grana padano, make for a perfect group-destination. A respectable menu of small plates and apps paired with a wine list that respects brevity, rounds out the spot as supremely solid on all fronts.

Toss in the elegant but unpretentious atmosphere and a great window for people-watching on 23rd, and 23Hoyt prevails again as one of our Spring favorites.
