Is there anything more heartbreakingly tasty than fresh veggies, drizzled in olive oil, grilled outdoors? Well yes, as a matter of fact. First off, steak (duh!). But also when said vegetables are plucked right from your yard. And the time to plant is now.

There are a multitude of places to get started in PDX, but when we heard that locally owned Linton Feed & Seed had opened up an convenient location expressly to support urban farming, we had to pay a visit. Dekum Street Doorway is a notch above the other places one goes for such things because it’s owned by a company that helps big farmers out too. They pass on both the savings and the know-how. So if you’re looking for anything from plant starts or nursery stock to garden tools or fresh honey, this gem in NoPo is where you want to be.

In the meantime, we’ll look for our BBQ invite for July.
