Good Eats The Spots — 01 January 2013

When it comes to Italian food, Portland has some very creative takes on this most celebrated of cuisines, but usually of the northern variety. And while we may still lack that truly good red-sauce joint, we have found an awesome spot for truly Naples-inspired pizzas.

Via Tribunali started in Seattle’s Capitol Hill district with an oven made of Neapolitan bricks (rich in Vesuvian ash) and made a quick splash. And while we try to find places to bring you that started in the Rose City, the Portland location of Via is all Portland, baby! With an  ample bar, cozy booths, light fixtures hand blown by local artist Eric Pauli, and an upstairs mezzanine with a great view of the pizza-slinging action below, you’ll feel comfortable while you wait (with cocktail) for the best Neapolitan pizza in town.

From the first bite, you’ll also understand why they’ve been able to build out to Portland and NYC in such a short period of time. The only thing that left us boggled was the low prices.
