The Spots — 29 August 2013

Usually, when a restaurant (hell, any business) tries to be everything to everyone at once, they fail… miserably. Which isn’t to say that those places shouldn’t be patronized. A restaurant/bakery might do one of those things spectacularly, right?

You can imagine our surprise when we found that northeast’s Old Salt, in its first month of business, fired on every cylinder (and there are many). The fresh-market component of the place offers up some of the best meats in town paired with a farmers market quality produce selection. This obviously feeds the needs of the restaurant who can provide you anything from well-appointed lunch to a take-home-and-cook supper for the family. Of course there are snacks and desserts too, but what blew our mind were the cocktails. First, that they served ‘em. Next that they were some of the best we’ve had in town.

While we recommend a trip here no matter where you are in town, if you are anywhere near NE, we can’t think of a better spot to unwind with a cocktail after work. When you arrive home with a buzz, the freshly prepared supper and provisions will swiftly absolve you.
